When you click Optimize, our software tries to find a plan with the lowest total wait times over the course of your day. To some extent, it also minimizes walking time.
Even though the word "fast" is in its name, using FastPass+ is not always the best option; in other words, the fact that you have a FastPass+ for something does not mean that using it is worthwhile. There are at least three potential explanations for this:
- For scheduled shows, FastPass+ hardly ever saves you time; you may end up with a better seat, but with FastPass+ you typically need to arrive well in advance of the showtime as compared to someone not using FastPass+.
- High-capacity, relatively unpopular attractions like The Seas with Nemo & Friends and Journey Into Imagination With Figment hardly ever see long lines. If the wait is nearly the same with and without FastPass+, there's no point in making a special walk over to the attraction during your FastPass+ window if it's not otherwise useful to be near there. You would waste time walking.
- If you have FastPass+ for attractions that you could ride quickly (without FastPass+) early in the morning, there are plans where riding via standby then may save you time (in terms of time spent in line over the course of the day) versus doing other things in the morning and riding later via FastPass+. This depends on what attractions are in your plan, of course.
Note that optimized touring plans are not necessarily what will make your group happiest. If you would like to explore other options, please consider:
- If you'd like to use all your FastPass+ selections even if that's not efficient, there is a "Force Optimize to use all of your FastPass+ reservations" checkbox in the "Advanced FastPass+ Options" area. Check that box and re-optimize to look at the different results.
- You are welcome to create your attraction order and use Evaluate to see how we predict the times will work out.
